A Quiet Place Part II Final Trailer

A Quiet Place Part II Final Trailer Breakdown: 20 Story Reveals & Secrets

It's time to turn down the volume as the new trailer for A Quiet Place 2 teases the long-awaited horror sequel's arrival this summer. Directed by John Krasinski, who also returns in the cast alongside Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, A Quiet Place Part II picks up where the 2018 movie left off: in a world populated by vicious monsters who hunt by sound, and where making any noise could be a death sentence.

The Abbott family have survived in this post-apocalyptic world for over a year, but now face a new challenge in the wake of Lee Abbott's (Krasinski) death and the arrival of Evelyn's (Blunt) newborn baby. The 2018 movie left off with the family farm being attacked by several of the alien creatures and the remaining Abbotts preparing for a fight, and in A Quiet Place 2 they will have to leave their home in search of a new place to live and other survivors who might be out in the world

A Quiet Place 2 also stars Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou as new characters, who have given up all hope until they meet the Abbott family - and particularly teenage daughter Regan (Simmonds), who has discovered a way to repel the creatures - and begin wonder if perhaps not all hope is lost. Here's a breakdown of the new trailer for A Quiet Place 2, and all its story reveals and secrets.

20. How John Krasinski's Character Returns

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Pharmacist

The new trailer for A Quiet Place 2 opens with a flashback to life shortly before civilization collapsed, with Krasinski returning as Lee Abbott. The character sacrificed his own life to save his children in A Quiet Place, by shouting to attract the attention of one of the deadly creatures. Krasinski may only return for this sequence, or the sequel could find other ways to pepper in flashbacks throughout the story.

19. The Toy Spaceship

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Spaceship Toy

The toy spaceship that Lee passed while buying oranges at the grocery is horrible familiar. In A Quiet Place, the Abbotts' young son Beau picked up the spaceship, hoping to take it home as a toy. Lee wouldn't allow it, on account of the toy being too noisy, but Regan secretly gave her little brother the spaceship - not knowing he'd put batteries in it. It was a mistake that led to Beau dying suddenly and brutally on the walk home.

18. Civilization Ended Very, Very Quickly

A Quiet Place raised some questions among audiences about how exactly civilization fell so quickly completely to creatures that don't have much of an advantage beyond their strength, speed, durability and good hearing. The flashback footage in the trailer suggests that the attack on Earth hit very hard, very fast, before people had much of a chance to react. Lee goes from hearing about some kind of attack on the TV in the pharmacy - with the news chiron saying the death toll is already "immeasurable" - to running for his life with Regan as chaos erupts around them.

17. Aliens Attack

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Alien Attack

The victory of the alien creatures (which referred to using variations of the name "Angels of Death") wasn't just down to their brute strength. A Quiet Place established that the creature's noises interact with the electromagnetic spectrum, and a newspaper clipping in that movie revealed that they had managed to cause a financial meltdown with an electromagnetic pulse that wiped hard drives on Wall Street. The trailer for A Quiet Place 2 further shows that the invasion was more complex than a bunch of monsters popping up. As Regan and Lee flee the town, objects seemed to be falling from the sky and crashing into buildings, and the pharmacist's impression from watching the news is that there was some kind of bombing attack.

16. The Destruction Of The Abbott Farm

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Fire

While it looks like Evelyn and the three Abbott children make it out of the farm alive, there may not be much of a home left behind by the time the battle with the creatures is over. The trailer for A Quiet Place 2 shows Marcus (Jupe) standing amid a raging fire in the barn as rafters and the farm's system of red warnings lights crash down around him. The family needs a good reason to choose the risky move of going on the run with a newborn baby, and the loss of their home and its accompanying defences seems to be a likely cause.

15. Regan On The Silo

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Regan on Silo

In the first movie, the Abbott farm's grain silo was a place to get away from the world, look out over the valley, and keep an eye out for other signs of life. In this shot Regan is seen taking up her father's old task of lighting the signal fire on top of the grain silo as the sun sets. However, the map that she's holding suggests there aren't a lot of other fires of the horizon - if any.

14. The Map Of Survivors

Quiet Place 2 Survivors Map

In A Quiet Place, the Abbotts kept limited contact with other survivors in their valley by lighting signal fires at night. In A Quiet Place 2, the family is actively searching for survivors and one shot from the trailer shows a map with locations where people are still alive - or rather, where they once were alive. Most of the locations seemed to be crossed out, with a couple accompanied by dates indicating when the survivors' signal fires were snuffed out. It looks like there may only be one other group of survivors left, so perhaps that's where the Abbotts decide to head first after leaving their farm.

13. Goodbye, Beau

Quiet Place 2 Evelyn Cross

A Quiet Place wasted no time in setting the stage for its lethal new world, where a simple mistake can cost everything. The previous movie opened with a sequence where the Abbotts' then-youngest child, Beau, was killed by one of the creatures after turning on the toy spaceship from the pharmacy. A Quiet Place 2's trailer shows Evelyn grieving at the cross marking the spot where Beau died, saying one last goodbye before she leaves behind the place where he spent his short life.

12. Leaving The Path

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Leaving Home

The Abbotts created sand trails around their property so that they could walk without making any noise, but the sand trails only stretch so far. After they make the decision to leave home, A Quiet Place 2's trailer focuses on the moment that Evelyn steps from the safety of the sand path onto a minefield of dry twigs, leaves and stones. To make matters worse, it's clear that not much time has passed since the ending of the last movie, as her foot is still bandaged from when she stepped on a loose nail.

11. The Train Yard

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Train Yard

After leaving the farm it appears the first place the Abbotts set up shop is a train yard. There are nearby wind turbines which could still be providing it with electricity, making it a good place to hide out. This may be the final signal fire location that Regan has marked on her map, and since the trailer later shows a first meeting between the Abbotts and Emmett at the train yard, Emmett may have been the one lighting the signal fire.

10. Marcus Makes A Discovery

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Marcus Monster

A shot of Marcus peering behind a curtain to find something that horrible (seen in the lower left corner of the image above) appears to be the moment that the Abbott family come under attack while sheltering in the train yard. Whatever Marcus finds appears to have hair, which the creatures that have been shown so far don't have. It could be a new variant of the creatures, or perhaps even one of their offspring.

9. Baby On Board

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Running From Monster

A Quiet Place 2's trailer shows some of the challenges of trying to move through a post-apocalyptic world where sound is not permitted while carrying a baby - since babies are notoriously loud. A shot of Evelyn and Regan running from one of the monsters shows that Evelyn is carrying the homemade box that serves as a soundproof, portable crib for the baby, complete with an oxygen tank on top for when it needs to be gassed to sleep. It's certainly not an easy way to travel.

8. Oxygen Supply

Quiet Place Trailer 2 Oxygen Tanks

On the topic of the baby's oxygen tank, another shot in the trailer shows Evelyn running towards the train yard building that the Abbotts use as temporary shelter, holding two oxygen tanks. The need to find another oxygen supply may have been an additional impetus for leaving the farm, since the baby will need to be quieted in risky situations for a considerable time longer. But given how bulky the cradle is, it appears that Evelyn will be forced to leave the baby with the kids while searching for supplies - and forced to hurry back when one of the creatures attacks.

7. Backed Into A Corner

Quiet Place Part 2 Evelyn In Tank

The Quiet Place 2 trailer ends with a tense moment as Evelyn tries to get her family secured inside a metal tank, only for the door to be ripped off by one of the creatures before she can close it. This scene takes place early on in the film, since Evelyn is still wearing the outfit she had on while leaving the farm, so presumably the Abbotts get out alive somehow. Still, the creature ripping a thick metal door off as easily as tissue paper is a terrifying reminder of their brute strength.

6. The Abbotts Meet Emmett

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Evelyn and Children Hiding

The new trailer for A Quiet Place 2 seems to show the exact moment that the Abbotts meet Emmett. After diving into one of the metal tanks in the train yard for shelter from the creatures, they are suddenly frightened by Emmett flicking open his lighter. It's a neat callback to the signal fires from the first movie, with fire once again being used as a signal of other human life.

5. Evelyn's Shotgun

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Evelyn With Shotgun

In a world where carelessly placed footsteps can be enough to get you killed, a shotgun isn't exactly an ideal weapon. Nonetheless, Evelyn was able to use the gun to kill one of the creatures at the end of A Quiet Place, after Regan used audio feedback to expose the vulnerable inside of its head. It was a moment of absolute desperation, and the gunshot blast ended up drawing several more creatures to the farm, resulting in its apparent destruction. Evelyn must truly be in a tight spot to even cock the shotgun in this particular scene - but is she facing another creature, or fellow human survivors?

4. Emmett's Backstory

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Sunset Attack

In addition to the flashback to the Abbott family's experience of the creatures' first attack, the trailer for A Quiet Place 2 may also show a flashback to Emmett's experience of it. There are shots of chaos erupting in his neighborhood, creatures killing people, and also a shot of Emmett running and grabbing a boy amid the terror. Perhaps the boy in this shot is Emmett's son, and he - like Evelyn and Lee - suffered the pain of losing a child.

3. Finally Giving Up Hope

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Djimon Hounsou

Djimon Hounsou's character in A Quiet Place 2 is something of a mystery, currently credited only as "Man on Island," but he seems to be part of the same survivor group that Emmett is in. In the new trailer he observes that "most people had finally given up hope," with his use of "finally" implying that he thinks hope is a dangerous thing, and regaining it could be even more dangerous. It's noteworthy that he is speaking aloud rather than using sign language or faint whispering like this Abbott family does. If this survivor group is on an island (as his character name and the shot of the bridge suggest) then perhaps they've found a way to keep the creatures far enough at bay to allow for quiet conversation.

2. The Tunnel

Quiet Place 2 Trailer Tunnel

Two of the shots in the trailer for A Quiet Place 2 show Regan exploring a tunnel with light at one end and more light shining down from a hole in the roof of the tunnel. In this scene she is carrying the shotgun usually held by Evelyn, which raises the question of how Regan ends up separated from her family and alone with their only weapon. Is this an ominous sign that Regan will be the sole survivor of the movie? Or does Evelyn simply trust her oldest child to handle the shotgun when exploring surrounding areas?

1. Regan And The Radio Station

Quiet Place 2 Regan in Radio Station

Regan's deafness has proven to be a life-saving advantage for the Abbott family in more ways than one. Not only did their knowledge of sign language enable them to more easily adapt to a world where silence means survival, Regan also discovered that the creatures are extremely vulnerable to the feedback produced by her hearing aid. The sound causes them to writhe in pain and lift up the carapace around their head, exposing the soft flesh underneath so that they can be killed. The new trailer for A Quiet Place 2 shows Regan exploring a powered-up radio station, which she could use to either reach out to other survivors, or send a painful out wave of feedback noise to incapacitate creatures in the area.
